With a four-barrel 389 Pontiac V-8 standard, buyers could option their cars with sporty 8-lug aluminum wheels, Tri-Power carburetion, a floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission and even a 405-horsepower 421 Super Duty race engine - if they dared.
