Volvo's image has long been one of large, heavy care which ooze reliability, strength and comfort and somehow shun performance, style and affection. This 'image' is often misplaced and never more so than with the series of cars discussed within these pages, Certainly they all have the image qualities but they also, almost to a model, turn in some stunning performance and have a delightful style all of their own.
