DVD: WSC Highlights 1982

Porsche and Lancia were the main contenders in the 1982 FIA World Sportscar Championship. The eight rounds of the World Endurance Championship provided the backdrop for the title fight, which was open to drivers in a whole raft of categories: Group C Sports prototypes, Group B GT, Group 6, Group 5, IMSA GTX, GTO and GTU, plus more. 

For the manufacturers’ title only Group C and Group B cars would count.

Porsche, with their strikingly-liveried Group C 956s were the class of the field, but Lancia’s lithe open cockpit LC1s took full advantage of the Group 6 rules to exploit the 1425cc motors.

The Lancia Martini team gave a thrilling account of themselves throughout the season to ensure driver Riccardo Patrese was in with a chance of winning the drivers’ championship as the season entered the final round. 

This programme features highlights of four of the exciting rounds of the season: The opening round at Monza, Silverstone 6 Hours (round 2), the fifth round at Spa, and the season finale at Brands Hatch.
