The World Atlas of Motor Racing is a uniquely fascinating guide to the great motor-racing circuits of the world — from the classic grand-prix and sportscar venues to the temporary dirt tracks and old airfield run-ways used in every part of the globe where the motor-sport bug has taken hold. More than 100 European circuits, including some 20 British ones, are described, and there are special features on the Formula 1 grand-prix venues of the present and immediate past and on other famous circuits such as Le Mans, Pau, Brno, Anderstorp, and Donington. North America is represented by over 50 circuits, including Indianapolis, Daytona, Long Beach, Sebring and Watkins Glen and other CART, IMSA, NASCAR and TransAm tracks, while full coverage is given to the main venues in Asia, Australasia, South America and Africa. In all, well over 200 circuits are described. The most important ones are superbly illus-trated by specially commissioned four-colour panoramic artworks showing straights, corners, chicanes, pits, grandstands and other features in detail. Other circuits are illustrated by pen-and-ink drawings or by outline diagrams. The text includes vivid descriptions of the circuits from the driver's point of view, while the accounts of epic races and hair-raising incidents illustrated by some 180 photographs, more than half of them in full colour.
