of personal luxury, refinement and driveability have been

featured advanced touches such as wind-up windows and numerous power options.
The Thunderbird Story chronicles all the remarkable eras
of Thunderbird achievem ent, beginning with background
on Ford's original decision to build a sports car. The first
dramatic change was shifting to a four-passenger body in
1958, then in 1962 an exotic-looking Sports Roadster was
created. By 1976 the plush Thunderbirds were almost limou-
sine-like in size, and the handsome Birds of the eighties are
the successful result of Ford's elaborate downsizing program.
Author Richard Langworth uncovered Thunderbird's
complete history only after months of painstaking research
and dedicated interviewing of those whom made the designs
and decisions that steered Thunderbird's course for nine
generations. Langworth's narration is wonderful reading:
sure to inform and entertain T-bird enthusiasts of all per-
suasions. Delightful, too, are the more than 275 beautifully reproduced illustrations, including 23 in full color.
The Thunderbird Story: Personal Luxury is exquisitely
published on high-quality stock in a large format. It is a
fitting tribute to the beautiful Thun derbird cars so cap-
tivatingly portrayed in this book. Also included are seven ap-
pendices listing such valuable information as authentic color
