How does the styling of a car come about? How does one get to the top of the "Design" division of a big car manufacturer, a sector constantly under the "friendly fire" of the entire management staff, presidents, and CEOs included, because styling is susceptible to the most disparate of interpretations?
To these questions answers Walter De Silva, a designer of indubitable fame, with top-level experience in an impressive number of brands: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Seat, Volkswagen, Škoda, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti, as well as direct contacts in Ducati and Porsche.
A long story, narrated by De Silva in a brilliant and spontaneous form, giving the reader the impression that the author has succeeded in transferring his own expressive capacityin Design on paper, including the moods, pathos, humours and discontent that have characterised the genesis of the many cars he has signed.
An impression strengthened by the publication, alongside the text, of several original drawings of the author. De Silva's story proceeds nimbly thanks to its subdivision into episodes, many of which have the author and famous names of the world's motoring gotha as protagonists.
